I would not consider myself a pro because I don't make a living at it. I use aD7200 and a D 3400 for a backup and a primary for certain things. I don't think that little D3400 gets enough credit in the photography community Matt. Anyway, I am in a wheelchair 90% of the time and shoot what I think are pro quality shots even before Lightroom which is always my goal. I do intend to buy a full frame camera at some point but for now I'm good and
(Broke) All my money is in glass. I just bought a 85mm 1.8 D off of eBay and you just can't get any sharper or better color. I've bought a lot of lenses off of eBay from Japan mostly and a lot of new ones from Amazon. I have found most all of my carefully selected lenses are great and I have one for about everything without buying all 800 to 1500 dollar stuff. I have one 1500 dollar lens I bough for Astro photography. I shot the moon with my 3400 A 2x teleconverter and a 300 mm kit lens and the shots are wonderful , almost as good as my 7200, a 2 X teleconverter and a tamron 150-600. Magnificent. So I do subscribe to, it's the photographer, not the money and there is some great stuff out there that's not overpriced, in fact better in some cases. Research and practice is my way.

good, sensible post Matt. I haven't bought anything new for a while and struggle to find a reason to do so. Except considering another prime lens maybe.
    Stay well.

there are times when I feel that a new lense or another lense would make my pictures better but then I think of Ansel Adams and compare what he accomplished with so much less. I think that I am close to that point where another lense, prime rather than zoom maybe become a part of my gear but not just yet. Thank you for the video.......I am glad to know that some one at your level feels some what as I have felt for a long while.

    Real good advice Matt.
As he was going on holiday and didn't want to lug his Canon around, I exchanged one of my cameras, Sony a6000 with a Zeiss 16-70 lens. I used his Canon 30D and achieved some amazing results with it.
I used his Tamron 18-200 (ok) and his Canon 70-200/2.8 (amazing lense).
Where it did fall down was in low light. The images were so noisy they were disappointing.

We have swopped back now, just as well otherwise I would have to advertise for a porter to carry it around for me - it is sooo heavy compared to my a6000 and A7.
