Disappointed in the D7500, the single card slot and the lower pixel count on the sensor.

Currently shooting a D7100/7200 combo. This seems to be a major misfire by Nikon. Only a single SD card slot - which is only UHS1 compliant and looking at the images available does not seem to offer the facility to add a vertical grip. I'd say this is a major spur to go to either the D500 or D750 as it seems to be in many ways a dumbed down version of both the 500 and 7200 at the same time.

1 card slot, 2 fps slower. Don't know about the rest of the specs.

In the U.K. The D7500 is priced £500 more than the D7200 is available... that's quite the price jump and I'm glad I didn't hold out for this camera and bought the 7200 for £715 (with a Nikon cash back offer of £85).

The new sensor, tilt screen & higher fps will be appealing but not worth the extra £500. For the same money as a new 7500, I'd rather get a second hand D750 and move to full frame. Here's hoping for a D760 later this year too.

Just watched the video. Interesting release by Nikon. I am an avid amateur that uses the D7200 and D5200 (as well as the D60 for kicks). I don't see a reason to upgrade, especially since I just bought the D7200 last year. I don't necessarily need the dual SD card slot a professional shooting an event like a weds, although I see how this can be useful fording. Still, for someone like me it probably makes sense to save my pennies for a D500 at some point, although I love the D7200. I think it will sell well, as it is still much less expensive than the D500.

When comparing the D500 & D7500 surprised you made no mention that the latter has a pop up flash. I use fill flash a lot and the absence of a flash on the D500 was a deal breaker. That said on balance I will wait for the D760.

I bought my D500 over 6 months ago and I agree with you, it is a sensational camera. Zero buyers regret on this one.

I don't see the attraction of the D7500 for a D7200 owner (myself included) - the next logical step for me would be the D500 if I were staying with crop sensor. I guess the D7500 might be attractive to someone moving up from an older 3K or 5K range camera, but not when it is so much more expensive than the D7200... Seems like Nikon have made a judgement error with this one - a few improvements but not enough to justify the price in my view.
    Just my 2c worth
