The majority of Matt's time is spent on portrait and event shoots.
To keep the creative juices flowing, and to contribute to worthy causes, Matt has several other projects simmering away.
Sydney in Focus - is a photographic essay profiling some of Sydney's icons, raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation. Will culminate in an exhibition in Art Month 2012.
Private Bodies (working title) will photograph people of all walks of life, naked in their own homes. The home is the one domain that is considered safe and ‘private’ enough for most people to bare all. What happens when the private body is made public in this way? The hope is that subjects will be left empowered and with a new relationship to their own body and sense of self. People from all walks of life – all ages, body types, genders, sexualities and nationalities – are invited to participate. The final cross section of people included will be determined by who puts their hand up to be involved.
Strangers - why don't people trust photographers these days? I want to explore these issues.
Visit each project page on the left for full information.
Matt is interested in issues of trust, and societies perception of photographers.
Matt is now working on a series to be produced as a high quality art book, looking at the public/private divide. At some age around 2-3 years old, children learn ‘shame’, and become self conscious of their bodies and ashamed of their nudity. This can affect people throughout their lives, causing issues in future relationships and to self esteem.

Me too! Check out the images in the gallery to the left.
The shoots are nude – but certainly not pornographic. Whilst nudity is shown – it is all to be of a standard that is published in your everyday book shop – not a plastic wrapped publication!
I will send you a selection of thumbnails after the shoot. You can choose your favourites and I will edit them up fully, and give you high res copies you can use as you please. (minimum 5 images).
No. I am an established photographer and would normally charge around $1000 for a package like this.
Please note due to the OVERWHELMING response I have had, I had to introduce a nominal fee for the shoots. The travel, shoot and editing time with so many people in line for a shoot has become too much. It is $195 for the full package.
I suggest you allow 2-3 hours. I do not like to rush the process, and every shoot is different. We may be done in an hour, or we may use the full 3 hours.
I will come to your place and scope out space and lighting that will work for the shoot. We will discuss the shot list, and talk about what props/elements to include. Then we start shooting. For first timers, I generally suggest we start clothed, or in bed, and work our way up to wandering the house.
Please note, it is best if we can have full run of the house/apartment, as some of the best shots pop up in the kitchen or lounge room etc.
I will bring along a one page questionnaire and waiver form to fill out on the day.
Very little. I ask all people to select an album or two of music to play as we shoot – anything you like to set the mood. If you want to do your hair and make up you are welcome to – but many shoots are done straight out of bed for a more ‘real me at home’ look. Both are fine for me.
Have a think about your hobbies and interests, and what things we can use/include in the shots that represent who you are. It could be an instrument, your exercise equipment, favourite books… whatever you like.
And no – you do not need to make the house spotless – realistic and lived in is fine :)
Matt Granger photography will own copyright of the images, and have final selection of the shots used in the project. You will have unlimited (and free) rights to use the images I send over for your portfolio or own uses.
Please note I store all images in a non networked secure back up system. They cannot get hacked etc as they are not online so to speak.
