To keep the creative juices flowing, and to contribute to worthy causes, Matt has several other projects simmering away.

Sydney in Focus - is a photographic essay profiling some of Sydney's icons, raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation. Will culminate in an exhibition in Art Month 2012.

Private Bodies (working title) will photograph people of all walks of life, naked in their own homes. The home is the one domain that is considered safe and ‘private’ enough for most people to bare all. What happens when the private body is made public in this way? The hope is that subjects will be left empowered and with a new relationship to their own body and sense of self. People from all walks of life – all ages, body types, genders, sexualities and nationalities – are invited to participate. The final cross section of people included will be determined by who puts their hand up to be involved.

Strangers - why don't people trust photographers these days? I want to explore these issues.

Matt Granger Photography

About Matt Granger Photography

Matt Granger grew up in south west NSW, with a father who was very interested in photography. There were always cameras around the house and he cannot recall a time he wasn't playing with a camera of some sort. Matt studied photography at high school and is thankful to have had the opportunity to learn on a 35mm film SLR and work in the darkroom from the outset - something that is getting harder to come by.

Matt studied screen studies at university, and his passion for photography grew alongside his interest in cinema. He has developed his skills by studying the masters, taking a series of specialised short courses, and lots of practice. Over the last couple of years he has moved primarily into dramatic portraiture and events, as well as strobist lighting techniques.

Matt founded Matt Granger Photography in 2007 and has been mainly working on weddings and portraiture. He has developed a mobile studio, that allows him to shoot portraits at any location, and his specialty is strikingly lit outdoor portraits.

Throughout 2010 Matt worked on a personal project titled Not Models (tbc), which include portraits of over 60 subjects. The project wrapped up in September 2010 with a showcase evening raising funds for charity.

Lately Matt has been working on themed portrait projects, creating a series of large scale images with a common element. The creative process of developing concepts collaboratively with clients is a fun and challenging process. Get in touch if you are interested in creating an artwork or series with a personal touch - something you can look back on in years to come with pride.
